An Introduction

I consider myself to be lucky.  At 20 years old, I have made it a point to constantly be aware of what is going on in this world, and specifically in this country.  I don't let myself be spoon fed.  I've been a Conservative my whole life because my Dad was one.  A funny story he enjoys telling people is about the day I tried to explain to my third grade teacher how much my Dad HATES Bill Clinton.  She assured me that he doesn't hate anyone, to which I replied that I heard him use the phrase, "I HATE Bill Clinton."  Further on down the road (the summer after I graduated high school to be exact) I started truly gaining an interest in politics and current issues.  It is at this time where I began looking up information for myself.  I began forming my own opinions.  Luckily, I started with the Conservative point of view and when you actually take the time to view that logic, it makes the Left's logic look less and less, well...logical.

But where I've begun separating from my Father's politics is when it comes down to the moral issues.  Do I think homosexuality is wrong?  Yes.  It says so in the Bible.  But can I really use that in an argument with someone who completely regards the Bible as untrue?  No.  Do I think all Conservatives should completely disregard Rudy Giuliani simply because he is pro choice?  No.  And its at these issues that Conservatives are split.  And if we make this issues black and white issues we will never attract moderate voters.  And you're not going to win elections with only the support of the far right moral conservatives.  Take George Bush for example.  My Dad (but his parents are even worse) cannot admit that Bush has made some very un-Conservative decisions in his 7+ years in office.  He's a staunch pro-life and anti-gay marriage Christian Conservative.  But what about the point that his non-wartime spending exceeded that of Bill Clinton?  Or what about the fact that he (along with John McCain, who God help us better not win this primary) tried to slip this Amnesty bill right past us?

The whole point I'm trying to make is that the Right needs to be able to win arguments without making religious beliefs our main points.  My goal is to be as informed as possible so I can win an argument with a liberal over any issue without using my faith.  We need to be less concerned with who Pat Robertson supports and more concerned with who has the leadership ability and the knowledge to lead this country and to respond to threats from abroad as well as within this country.  Someone who will secure the borders, keep the tax cuts, decrease spending, and defeat socialized medicine.

If abortion is the only issue you are voting on, then elect the candidate who believes in letting the States decide on abortion laws.  Vote for a candidate who will appoint justices in the mold of Alito and Thomas (which by the way, Giuliani has vowed to do).
